What does God think about sex?
GENESIS 1:27-28 God created human beings in his own image...male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and multiply."
GENESIS 2:24 A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.
God created sex. He made man and woman sexual beings, with the ability to express love to and delight in each other and to reproduce and replenish the next generations. The sexual relationship is a key part of a husband and wife's becoming one person. God intended sex to be a good thing within the context of the marriage relationship.
PROVERBS 5:18-19 Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth...Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love.
SONG OF SONGS 7:6 Come, my love, let us go out to the fields and spend the night among the wildflowers.
When marriage becomes routine, it is important to rekindle the fires of sexual intimacy.
Is it so bad if I just think about sex with someone other than my spouse? I don't really do anything.
EXODUS 20:17 You must not covet your neighbor's house. You must not covet your neighbor's wife.
MATTHEW 5:27-28 Jesus said," You have heard the commandment that says, 'You must not commit adultery.' But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Lust is adultery in the heart. While it true that when you only imagine having sex with someone you have not consummated the act, it is true that according to Jesus' words you have committed adultery.
MARK 7:20-22 It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality...lustful desires.
What you think about doesn't come just from your mind; it comes from your heart as well. Your thoughts tell you the condition of your heart as well. Your thoughts tell you the condition of your heart and your action begins as a thought. Left unchecked, wrong thoughts will eventually result in wrong actions. If you continue to think having sex with someone other than your spouse, your heart will begin to convince your mind that what you want to do is okay. The Bible says that the heart is "desperately wicked" (Jeremiah 17:9). In other words, don't trust your thoughts and emotions to tell you what is right and good. Trust God's Word, for it comes from God's heart, which is good and perfect.
Promise from God 1 CORINTHIANS 10:13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
