SINGLENESS

Is God's plan for everyone to marry? If I'm single, am I missing out on God's plan for me?

MATTHEW 19:12   Some choose not to marry for the sake of the kingdom of Heaven.

1 CORINTHIANS 7:7   Each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.

Either marriage or singleness can be a gift from God. Is it all right to remain single? Yes. It is all right to marry? Yes. There are advantages to both.

1 CORINTHIANS 7:32   An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord's work and thinking how to please him.

In your singleness, serve the Lord wholeheartedly. Do not give in to the feeling that your life is incomplete without a spouse.

What if I want to marry? Is that wrong?

GENESIS 2:18    The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him."

1 CORINTHIANS 7:38   The person who marries his fiancee does well, and the person who doesn't marry does even better.

God made man and woman for each other. It is good when the right mates find each other, but it's tragic when a marriage falls short of God's glorious plan. People should not feel pressured either to marry or to remain single. Ask God to lead you concerning marriage and the right marriage partner.

How can God help me accept my singleness?

1 CORINTHIANS 7:7-8    Paul said, " I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another. So I say to those who aren't married and to widows it's better to stay unmarried, just as I am.

Sometimes, when you desperately want something, it is easy to forget the gifts of your current situation. Paul found that his singleness was an advantage in pursuing his call of establishing churches. Step back and look for how God might want to use you in your singleness in a way that he could not if you were married.

If a person's mate has died, is it all right to marry again?

1 CORINTHIANS 7:39   A wife bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if he loves the Lord.

Promise from God   PHILIPPIANS 4:19     God...will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
