ZEPHANIAN 3:12 | Those who are left will be the lowy and humble, for it is they who trust in the name of the LORD.
Humility is not thinking too highly of yourself.
MATTHEW 18:4 | Anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is th greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Humility is childlike. It is an attitude of total trust in a great God.
PSALM 51:3-4 | I recognize my rebelion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what ts evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment agatnst me is just.
Humility is willingness to admit and confess sin.
PROVERBS 12.23 | The wise don't make a show of their knowledge but fools broadast their foolishness.
Humility is retraining from proving what you know, how good you are at something, or that you are always right.
PROVERBS 13 10 | Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise.
Humility allows you to ask for advice.
GENESIS 32:9-10 | Jacob prayed, "God... you promised me, l will treat you kindly.' Iam not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulnes you bave shown to me, your servant."
Humility comes when you recognize your need for God and then acknowledge how he provides for you.
How was Jesus humble?
LUKE 2:6-7 | The time came for [Mary's] baby to be born. She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snughy in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
God wanted Jesus to have a humble birth as a sign that his offer of salvation is for everyone, regardless of race or class or socioeconomic position.
ZECHARIAH 9:9 | Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph. O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is comng to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble. riding on donkey-riding on a donkey's colt.
Jesus was King of kings, yet on his royal ride into Jerusalem, when the crowds proclaimed him king (see Matthew 21:1-11), he sat on a lowly donkey.
HEBREWS 2:9 | Jesus...was given a position "a Little lower than the angels"; and because he suffered death for us, he is now "crowned with glory and honor." Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone.
Jesus had all the glory and honor of sitting at God's right hand, but for your sake he gave that up to die a criminal's death so that you could be saved from eternal punishment and enjoy eternal life with him.
How do I become humble?
DEUTERONOMY 8.2-3 | (Moses said to the people of lsrael,] "Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna... He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone."
Humility comes when you recognize that you need God.
1 PETER 3:8 | All of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tender hearted, and keep a humble attitude.
Humility comes from developing a sympathetic and tender heart toward others.
PHILIPPIANS 2:3 | Dont be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Humility means thinking of others' welfare before thinking about your own.
1 PETER 5:5 | You younger men must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, serve each other in humility, for "God opposes the proud but favors the humble."
Serving other people will develop humility in you. Humility also means accepting the authority of those over you.
How does humility heip me serve God better?
PHILIPPIANS 2:5-8 | You must bave the same attitude that Chris Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as somethiny to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position ofa slave and born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, be humbled himself obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross.
You are humbled when you realize that God healed your soul and recognize your complete dependence on him. When you do, you're happy to serve your Lord in any way he asks.
How can humility help me deal with sin?
JAMES 4:6-10 | [God] gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God opposes the proud but favors the humble." So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your bearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done.... Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
Humility is essential to recognizing the sin in your life. Pride gives the devil the key to your heart; humility changes the lock and gives God the key. In place of pride is the humility that comes from godly sorrow for sin. Openly admit that you need God, and seek his forgivenesss. No proud person can do this.
Promise from God ISALAH 57:15 | The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: "I live in the high and holy place with chose whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentan hearts.
