Be Honest with God

Being honest with God is about approaching Him with an open heart, acknowledging your true feelings, struggles, and desires. Many of us may feel the need to present a polished version of ourselves to God, but He already knows us intimately. He sees our hearts and understands our struggles, so honesty builds a deeper, more authentic relationship with Him.

1. Acknowledge Your Feelings:

Sometimes we carry burdens like anger, fear, or doubt. God invites us to share those emotions with Him. The Psalms are full of David expressing his deepest sorrows and greatest joys. Like David, we can be transparent with God.

2. Confess Your Struggles:

Admitting your mistakes and seeking forgiveness is a cornerstone of a genuine relationship with God. He doesn’t expect perfection; He values humility and a repentant heart.

3. Seek Guidance and Trust His Plans:

Being honest means admitting that we don’t have all the answers and trusting God to guide us. When we rely on Him, even in uncertainty, we demonstrate faith.

4. Gratitude and Praise:

Honesty also involves acknowledging God’s blessings and expressing gratitude. Even in hardships, recognizing His presence strengthens our trust.

Remember, honesty with God leads to freedom and growth. It creates space for healing, transformation, and a deeper understanding of His love.

Real Life Story

Once upon a time in a small village, there lived a girl named Lily. She was known for her kind heart and cheerful smile. Every day, she helped her neighbors and tended to her little garden. But inside, she carried a big secret. Lily often felt sad and confused, but she did not know how to talk about these feelings with anyone, not even with God.

One sunny afternoon, as she watered her flowers, a gentle breeze whispered through the leaves. Lily closed her eyes and thought, “What if I could share my feelings with God? ” The thought excited her. But fear held her back. What if God was angry or disappointed with her?

Later that evening, Lily decided to visit the old oak tree at the edge of the village. It was a special place, where she often felt close to nature. Sitting by the tree, she closed her eyes and began to pray. “God, are You there? ” she whispered. “I want to talk to You. ”

At that moment, she felt a warm light around her. Lily took a deep breath and said, “I have to be honest with You, God. I feel lost. Sometimes, I wonder if I’m doing the right things. I am scared of what people think of me. ”

As she spoke, her heart started to lighten. She felt free to share her worries and doubts. The words poured out like rain. “I don’t always feel happy. I wish I could find my way. ”

Suddenly, a soft rustling sound came from the branches above. A small bird landed next to her. It chirped a joyful song, and Lily paused. In that moment, she realized that just like the bird, she could be free. She didn't have to hide her feelings anymore.

With newfound courage, she continued, “God, I need Your help. I want to feel joy again and understand my purpose. Please guide me. ” As she finished speaking, she felt a sense of peace wash over her, as if her worries had floated away on the wind.

Lily stood up, feeling lighter and brighter. She understood now that being honest with God brought her comfort. From that day on, whenever she felt troubled, she returned to the oak tree to share her heart. With every conversation, she felt God’s gentle presence guiding her. Lily learned that honesty was the path to joy, and she never felt lost again.
