Specific things to pray for each day
You want to pray for your kids. You really do.
But sometimes you sit down to pray and think: "What do I even say?"
You know you should pray. You know prayer matters. But without a guide, it's easy to get stuck in the same general prayers: "God, please protect them. Help them have a good day. Amen."
There's nothing wrong with those prayers. But there's so much more to pray for.
This guide gives you specific things to pray for your kids—every day for a month. Not vague wishes. Not generic blessings. Targeted, intentional prayers for their character, faith, relationships, future, and protection.
You don't have to pray them all perfectly. Just pray.
🔥 Why Specific Prayers Matter
The Power of Intentional Prayer
When you pray specifically:
· You stay focused – No more wandering thoughts
· You cover more ground – You pray for things you might forget
· You see answers – When you pray specifically, you recognize God's specific answers
· Your kids feel loved – When they hear you pray for them by name, they know you're thinking of them
The Goal
Not to check off a religious to-do list. To talk to God about your kids. To invite Him into every part of their lives.
Prayer doesn't change God. It changes us. And it changes our kids when they hear us pray for them.
📖 The 31-Day Prayer Guide
Week 1: Character and Heart
Day 1: Salvation
Lord, I pray that my child will come to know You personally at a young age. Draw their heart to You. Give them faith to believe. Let them know that they are loved by You.
Day 2: Faith
Help my child's faith to grow. When doubts come, give them assurance. Help them trust You even when they don't understand. Let their faith be their own, not just mine.
Day 3: Humility
Protect my child from pride. Teach them to think of others before themselves. Give them a servant's heart. Help them admit when they're wrong and ask for forgiveness.
Day 4: Integrity
Let my child be honest, even when it's hard. Help them keep their promises. Let their yes be yes and their no be no. Make them people of their word.
Day 5: Kindness
Fill my child with compassion for others. Help them notice those who are hurting. Give them courage to be kind, even when it's not popular.
Day 6: Self-Control
Give my child self-control over their words, their temper, and their desires. Help them pause before they react. Teach them to master their impulses.
Day 7: Courage
Make my child brave. Not fearless—courageous. Help them stand up for what's right. Give them strength to face their fears.
Week 2: Relationships
Day 8: Friendships
Bring godly friends into my child's life. Protect them from friends who would lead them astray. Give them wisdom to choose friends who point them toward You.
Day 9: Siblings
Help my children love each other well. Teach them to forgive quickly. Give them patience with each other. Let their home be a place of peace, not rivalry.
Day 10: Future Spouse (if applicable)
Lord, I pray for my child's future spouse. Protect them. Grow them. Prepare them to be a godly partner. And prepare my child to be a godly spouse.
Day 11: Forgiveness
Help my child forgive those who hurt them. Release them from bitterness. Teach them that forgiveness is not weakness—it's freedom.
Day 12: Respect for Authority
Help my child respect their parents, teachers, and leaders. Give them a teachable spirit. Help them receive correction gracefully.
Day 13: Wisdom in Relationships
Give my child discernment in friendships and dating. Help them recognize unhealthy relationships. Protect them from being manipulated or used.
Day 14: Conflict Resolution
Teach my child how to resolve conflict well. Help them listen before speaking. Give them words that heal, not wound.
Week 3: Mind and Emotions
Day 15: Peace
When anxiety rises, give my child Your peace. Help them cast their cares on You. Let them know they don't have to carry their burdens alone.
Day 16: Joy
Let my child experience true joy—not just happiness when things go well. Help them find delight in You, in Your creation, in the simple gifts of each day.
Day 17: A Sound Mind
Protect my child's mental health. Guard them from depression, anxiety, and fear. Give them a sound mind. Help them know when to ask for help.
Day 18: Wisdom
Give my child wisdom beyond their years. Help them make good decisions. Protect them from foolish choices that could harm their future.
Day 19: Contentment
Teach my child to be content with what they have. Protect them from the comparison trap. Help them find satisfaction in You, not in possessions.
Day 20: Resilience
When they fail, help them get back up. When they face setbacks, give them perseverance. Make them resilient, not brittle.
Day 21: Gratitude
Cultivate a grateful heart in my child. Help them notice their blessings. Teach them to say thank you—to You and to others.

Day 25: Purpose
Show my child the purpose You have for their life. Give them dreams that honor You. Help them discover their gifts and use them for Your glory.
Day 26: Education
Bless my child's learning. Give them a mind that retains knowledge. Help them love to learn. Provide good teachers who inspire them.
Day 27: Future
Prepare my child for the future You have planned. Guide their steps. Open the right doors and close the wrong ones. Let them walk in Your will.
Day 28: Witness
Make my child a light for You. Give them boldness to share their faith. Help them live in a way that makes others curious about You.
Day 29: Health
Bless my child with good health. Heal them when they're sick. Strengthen their body. Give them energy for each day.
Day 30: Legacy
Let my child be a blessing to their generation and the next. Use them to build Your kingdom. Let their life point others to You.
Day 31: Trust
Help my child trust You completely. Not just when life is easy. Especially when it's hard. Let them know that You are good, even when they don't understand.

💭 A Word for Dads
Maybe you don't feel like a prayer warrior. Maybe you stumble over your words. Maybe you've never prayed out loud before.
Here's what I want you to know:
God doesn't need your eloquence. He wants your heart.
Your kids don't need a perfect prayer. They need to know that you're talking to God about them.
Start where you are. Pray one prayer today. Just one.
🙏 A Prayer for Dads Who Pray
For those who want to pray for their kids but don't know how:
"God, I want to pray for my kids. But I don't always know what to say. Give me words. Help me be consistent. And let my children know—by my prayers and my life—that they are loved by You. Amen."
